Amidst the darkness of the mayhem on our roads, a stray glimpse of sanity today... In rush hour traffic at a very busy intersection, a small eight year old schoolboy was trying to ride his bicycle...his heavy school bag on his back, he was trying to ride across to the side of the road... 

As the lights changed and the flood of buses, bikes, cars and rickshaws bore down upon him, engulfing him in its turbulence, I was terrified for his very life, for no one gave him an inch...he was being pushed into a huge bus, its tyres looming large alongside him... 

And then that glimmer of sanity..whilst all smaller vehicles seemed oblivious to the child, the bus-driver stopped his bus, blocked everyone else, and the child coasted across to the side in front of the bus..

I drew a deep breath, hope renewed...
